Dell Streak Gorilla Glass

It's no secret touch devices are offering ever larger screens and glass surfaces all around. However, there are still those who believe the tiniest contact with "anything" is enough to scratch or crack their new gadget screen.

Well, it's not something I'd recommend you to do to your own device, but I think these folks make a fine job at showing just how much Dell Streak Gorilla Glass display can endure without any apparent damage.

Dell Streak Android Mini Tablet

Dell's Android mini tablet has a name, and it's called: Dell Streak.

Formerly known as Dell Mini 5, it has a Snapdragon CPU, 5" touchscreen with 800x480 resolution, 5Mp autofocus camera (with flash) in the back, a front looking VGA camera, touch sensitive buttons, and a 30 pin dock connector for expansion.

Dell is also planning a partnership with Amazon, so you can count on eBooks, music and videos, easily accessible from that source.

I think the critical aspect for the success or failure of this mini-tablet will be the interface they'll add on top of the base Android. It really must be something that will appeal to customers and make us want to own one, or else...

Dell Mini 9 turns Double Screen Tablet

If you're tired of waiting for the fabled Apple Tablet, check this Harlequin double screen tablet:

A user took apart his Dell Mini 9 and modded it with a secondary screen where the physical keyboard used to be. The result is amazing, and clearly shows how good such a device would look if it were to be built by any manufacturer.

I just wonder how much this affects battery life (the screen is usually the "worst offender" when it comes to power usage, and two screens... you can do the math.)

... unless he uses one of those eco-friendly PixelQi screens! ;)

Dell Zino HD

If you're looking for a small (and stylish) computer you can use as an HTPC, check this Dell Zino HD.

Albeit small and relatively cheap (starts at $229) these Zinos hold some surprises inside. Instead of the traditional Intel Atom CPUs that would struggle in more demanding applications (such as playing HD video) the Zino relies on AMD CPUs, which you can upgrade up to a 1.8Ghz AMD Athlon Neo X2 6850e, and a maximum of 8GB RAM. You also get a dedicated ATI Radeon HD 4330 graphic card with 512MB, an optional Bluray drive, and up to 1TB HDD.

Looks like this little fellow won't have any trouble digging through anything you throw at it.

Dell Mini - 32GB SSD for $100

Finally, upgrading your netbook's SSD is now starting to become a viable option.
Dell, has just introduced some SSD upgrade options in their Dell Mini 9 netbook, allowing your to choose a larger SSD (8/16/32GB) for rather affordable prices. Let's just hope they're some decent speed SSDs like the ones used in the latest Eee PC 901.

Dell Mini 9 with Touchscreen Mod

And speaking about the Dell Mini 9, don't forget that just like most other netbooks, you can easily add it a touchscreen.

Dell Announces 16GB RAM laptop

If you've always felt constrained when you have to work on a laptop then you haven't heard about Dell's latest beast. This 17" Dell will probably leave your desktop computer in the dust.

Besides its quad-core CPU, its 17" LCD and its 1TB Raid storage, it allows you to install up to 16GB of Ram!

This monster is obviously directed to the video and multimedia professional - and even includes an integrated jog-shuttle control. You can also connect it to a pair of external 30" monitors.

Now... I would just like to see someone using one of these in their laps...

Dell E - Instant On Success?

I don't know if I had talked about the Dell E here already.

It's one more "netbook" that will have to fight its way through the growing armada of Eee PCs, Aspire One's, Wind's, and all the other low cost netbooks out there.

However, there are a few things that might help this small Dell make all the difference.

On the hardware front, things are evenly matched: an Intel Atom @ 1.6Ghz, 8.9" LCD (1024x600), 3x USB, SSD, webcam, wifi, etc.

However, Dell was smart enough to include something the Eee PC should have done from the start (especially considering the close ties Asus has with Splashtop) an Instant On embedded Linux Distro.

There's not much information about what "splashtop-lookalike" Dell will be using in their Dell E, but this will certainly prove to be a strategic step into winning a lot of customers.

That and... its price!
The Dell E will be available soon, for just $299 ($100 less than the Aspire One.)
