OpenEmu brings classic Games to the Mac

Traditionally, Macs have been left behind Windows computers in regards to gaming. But if you're a fan of retro-gaming you'll now be able to enjoy some of the old classic games you've spent so much time playing - or share them with younger people that don't know what they've been missing.

The OpenEmu is a multi-system emulator that allows you to easily drag and drop games and play them. For now you can play games for the NES, SNES, Genesis, Sega 32X, Sega Master System, TurboGrafx-16; as well as portable gaming consoles like Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Game Gear, NeoGeo Pocket and Virtual Boy. In the future you can expect PlayStation, N64, Atari 2600 and Sony PSP to be add to the mix as well.

And as these games wouldn't be the same if they were played with a mouse and keyboard, you can play them with many different game controllers: like a Wii Remote or DualShock 3 via Bluetooth; a DualShock 4 via micro USB; and even Xbox 360 controllers (if you use a 3rd party device driver).

... In a time where graphic quality and next-gen consoles have been buzzing around the news, nothing like a stroll down memory lane to remember that "fun" isn't something related to the number of pixels, colors, or sprites you can have on the screen at the same time. Often, even some crude pixelated blocks are more than enough to entertain us for time and time again (do I need to remind you of Tetris? :)

Linux PC Emulator in Javascript

As a programmer, I've always said that (almost) everything is doable in any computer language - although there are computer languages better suited to each and every problem.

However, there's no denying javascript has come a long way since it's first inception. And if any more examples are needed to prove its worth, how about this Linux PC emulator in javascript!

Yep, albeit it's a simple computer comparable to a plain 486 CPU, we're talking about a PC emulator done entirely in Javascript - which is, at the very least, awesome!

It was created by Fabrice Bellard, creator of QEMU and FFmpeg, and also winner of several IOCCC competitions).

iPad Emulator in Your Browser

If you still haven't had the opportunity to check how the iPad actually works, nothing like visiting this amazing site offering you an iPad web emulator.

It doesn't even use Flash for the most part, and allows you to have a glimpse of how an iPad behaves and works - though you'd better try a real iPad to really get the hang of it.

On a completely unrelated note: for old-timers like me, you might want to go old-school and see how things worked back in the day, in this MS-Dos web emulator. :)
