Gmail with Search Autocomplete, Vacations and custom Label colors

It won't be nothing new for all those already using these features from the Gmail Labs section, but now they have graduated to the official Gmail:

1. Search Autocomplete
   - searching is now easier than ever...
2. Go To Label
   - pressing "g" and "l" for the keyboard shortcut aficionados  will take them to a "label:" seach.
3. Forgotten Attachment Detector
   - no more embarrassing emails with no attachments
4. YouTube Previews
   - no need to jump to another page to watch a YouTube video
5. Custom Label Colors
   - at last... you can break free from Gmail labels preset color schemes.
6. Vacation Dates
   - Holidays without email worries...

All quite useful - hence their graduation to Gmail... :)

On the other hand, five other Gmail Labs features of "not so much interest" have been removed:

1. Muzzle
2. Fixed Width Font
3. Email Addict
4. Location in Signature
5. Random Signature

New Gmail Emoticons

If you can't live without emoticons in your emails and think the one in Gmail are not enough, you'll be pleased to know that... you have a bunch of new emoticons waiting for you in the Labs section!

You just need to enable the "Extra Emoji" setting and you'll be able to use many more icons:

Or maybe you just want to hop around like a ?
Or maybe even just  around in a path of happiness.

Just enable your extra emoji in Gmail and start spreading the emoticon love around! :)

Similar Image Search with Google Labs

Google has been hard at work in image processing and image recognition. Today, we're able to use some of that expertise with a new service: Similar Images Search.

Using this Similar Images Search from Google Labs, you can easily find similar images to the one you're interested in. This is particularly useful, for instance, when you're search term represent several different items.
As shown on the following video, if you're searching for "jaguar", you'd be presented with images of bothe the animal as well as cars from that brand. Now, you can easily zoom in on the ones you really want.



... I imagine that, in a couple of years we'll be doing the same kind of stuff... with video! :)

Google News Timeline

If you can't spend an hour away from world news, either because you're a reporter or doing some research, then you'll love this News Timeline from Google Labs.

With a selection of daily or weekly news (just double click the timeline for zoom in/out) that gets updated instantly as you move around, this is really an amazing way to see what's happening/has happened in the world.

Gmail Auto-complete Search [Labs]

At last, searching through your emails in Gmail is now a lot easier - all you need to do is head to the Gmail Labs tab and enable search auto-complete.

Furthermore, if you ever had to search for email with attached photos (and, who hasn't?) you'll no longer need to memorize those geeky search query terms like: filename:(jpg OR png OR tiff).

All you have to do is begin typing attchaments or photos, and select the apropriate option...

A must-have lab feature everyone needs to enable right now. :)

Gmail with Multiple Inboxes Multiview

As you can see for yourself, you can have multiple views, each showing just the emails you want based on any search pattern you may think of.

This may be just what you needed to optimize the way you manage and deal with your emails on a daily basis.

Gmail Goggles - Google Sanity Checker

Emails are becoming increasingly important in our daily lives. They're fast, cheap, and easy to use.

But all that easiness also has its drawbacks: once you click that "Send" button there's no way back. Your email will reach its destination in a few milliseconds and there's no way to stop it.

This means that we - as flawed human beings with our own moments of weakness - are very much likely to send some emails we'll later regret. Particularly when we're likely to be annoyed or... how to put it mildly?... drunk.

That's where Gmail Goggles comes in to save the day night.
(Yep, that's no typo, it's Goggles not Google)

When this new Google Labs feature is active, it will require some extra confirmation before it sends your email.

Of course, you can easily adjust it to cover all your "party hours" - by default Gmail Goggles comes active for the weekends only.

Google Suggest arrives at Google.com

After almost four years of exeperiences Google Suggest gets its primetime by arriving at Google's main page.

Google suggest allows you to easily select the relevant search query by showing you relevant searches as you type it on the search input box.

It has introduced in December 2004 as oine of the projects developed at Google Labs, and it quickly found its way to some of Google's services like Google News, Google Mobile, Google Maps and others...

Finally, it arrives at Google.com
