FullHD Videochat with the Logitech C920

With all the technology at our disposal today, there are no excuses not to keep in touch with friends and family, even if they're on the other side of the world. And to prove that the days of those low quality blurry videocalls are over, Logitech has brought us the new HD Pro Webcam C920, a webcam that - for the first time - allows you to do videochats with FullHD 1080p quality.

For that, you need only to download the latest Skype 5.7 beta for windows (or newer versions). But even if you use Windows Live Messenger, you can still chat with HD 720p quality that will make your friends feel like they're seeing you with their own eyes.
As usual, you can also easily send your H.264 videos to YouTube, and send snapshots to Facebook and Twitter.

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 should be hitting the stores anytime now, and has an estimated price of 99,99€.

3D Model Aquisition with a Webcam

Simply AMAZING!

Check how a simple webcam and some clever software can create a 3D model by simply moving an object in front of it.

It's called ProFORMA (standing for: Probabilistic Feature-Based On-line Rapid Model Acquisition.)

6rounds - Your Meeting Point on the Web

If you can't stand being away from your IM client, facebook page, or twitter, you'll love what this new 6rounds site has to offer.

Basically, it hopes to become the biggest meeting point on the web, allowing for unprecedent cooperation; like sharing a website with your friends or watch some videos together...

I don't think I can quite explain this to you; better watch the introductory video:

Request your invite code now, while you can still grab your favorite nickname. :)

Pseudo-3D Webcam Video

An interesting project that applies a real-time pseudo-3D video effect to any regular webcam.

Wireless Bluetooth Webcam

I'm surprised no on had thought of this before, but apparently this BT-1 webcam from Ecamm is the first to use bluetooth for wireless video transmission.

And just because it needs no wires, don't think it can't handle decent quality content, as it can stream 640x480 H.264 video with 48 kHz AAC stereo audio for 4 hours between charges.

As always, you can't expect this sort of stuff to come cheap: $150.
But, if you really can't stand wires running across your desktop, I'm sure you'll find a way to justify it. :)

iPhone - Man's Best Friend's Best Friend

No, it's not a typpo, the title's exactly how I meant it

Jt's just that Stephen Meyers remebered to use his iPhone as a universal controler to keep tabs on his dog at home - as well as being able to treat him from afar.

With some hardware modules from IObridge, and using WebcamXP for streaming the video, the entire project took just a couple of hours.

That's the perfect example of what you can accomplish using off-the-shelf components and using it in a creative way.
