Forcy expands 3D Touch capability to older iPhones

One of the new features of the iPhones 6S is 3D Touch, which allows the device to sense the amount of pressure, and is already being put to good use across the system and in many apps. Now, even older iPhones can benefit from it as well, as long as you're willing to jailbreak your device.

evasi0n Jailbreak for iOS 7.x comes with pirated apps' store (in China)

If you're not to keen on letting Apple decide what you can or cannot do with your iPhone or iPad, you'll certainly love the freedom jailbreak provides. And if you're a iOS 7 user, you'll be pleased to know that an evasi0n's untetethered jailbreak for iOS 7 is finally available.

However there are some things that are causing some turmoil among the jailbreaking community. For starters, it seems to have been a rushed launch, due to some stolen code that was supposedly sold to a rival group that was about to charge for jailbreaking devices (the Cydia app isn't even the official one nor the latest version). But what's causing even more buzz is the fact that in chineses iOS devices, this jailbreak automatically installs an alternative app store app: TaiG.

And although this could be just another non-official app store specialized in chinese apps, the problem is that this app store provides lots of cracked and pirated apps. Something that doesn't look very good for the jailbreak community. Evasi0n has already stated that were not aware of this, and that their contract with them specifically stated that no pirated apps should be present in there - on the other hand, having received nearly 1 million for putting the TaiG there, it is also making some people reevaluate just how much this whole thing is worth nowadays... and that there is a lot more than simple "freeing the devices" for fun and just the fun/challenged of it.

In any case, if you're a jailbreak fan, you'll be pleased to know that you'll be able to have all your iOS 7.x devices jailbroken before Christmas.

evasi0n jailbreaks every iOS 6 iDevice

If you're delaying the update to Apple's iOS 6.1 on your iPhone, iPad or iPod due to having a jailbroken device, wait no longer. evasi0n is out, and it promises to free any and every iOS 6.x device out there. Yes, you can now enjoy the freedom of jailbroken Apps on the latest iOS.

The process is simple and can be done in OS X, Windows and Linux (you can see a detailed step by step guid here). But be sure to read everything twice before pressing the go ahead button... meaning: do your backups, disable the lockscreen passcode, and... be patient - it will take a while for the process to finish.

Though I'm not a big fan of jailbreak myself, I do believe everyone should have the right to do it if they choose to do it. And, as we all know, there are indeed several jailbreak-only apps and tweaks that Apple should learn from.

Let's see if the upcoming and (hopefully) refreshed new iOS versions will take a hint from those... Meanwhile, it's ressuring to know you can "evade" your iOS locks thanks to this evasi0n.

Auxo App Switcher Shows how Much iOS has Fall Behind

One of the great things about iOS (its stability and optimization) can also be looked upon as one of its major drawbacks, as it severely restricts what developers can do to enhance/modify certain aspects of how the system works - suffice to say, you can't even use a different touch keyboard. However, that's not a problem for those that resort to jailbreak, and in some cases, I guess all users wish they had.

Take a look at this Auxo, an App Switcher that clearly shows just how much Apple has fall behind in improving their iOS.

While many user appreciate the app switching Apple has brought to iOS (though it's accessible through an unfriendly double click on the home button), showing just the App icons pales in comparison to what Auxo does.

With Auxo you get thumbnails of the current App State (together with App icons, so there's no doubt about what you're looking at). But there's more than just "prettying things up". You can also "kill" any app by simply swiping down each icon off the screen - and if you use the traditional tap-and-hold, you can kill all apps in one go (better than having to tap on dozens of small wiggling "x" on each App).

More so, it even warns you when you're trying to kill an app that is doing background tasks - such as streaming music. Something the native task manager doesn't even consider.

Besides all that, you also get completely redesigned (for the better) media controls that finally look like they belong to this century, and that show you more info about what's playing, including cover art if available. And, as if that wasn't enough, you also get quick access to shortcut setting options, like WiFI, 3G, Bluetooth, etc. - that you can even reorder as you wish (and take you to the native settings page, if you tap-and-hold on them).

It's precisely one of those cases that should make Apple reconsider their stance on iOS development. If they're not willing to pick up the pace and begin innovating as they once did, at least open up the platform so other developers can do it for them. Allowing for 3rd party task managers and keyboards would be a nice way to start.

Jailbreak is Legal for Smartphones but Illegal for Tablets

The USA might be the land of the free... but only as long as you don't run into the many DRM and Copyright laws like the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act). Fortunately, those laws - that only plague the lawful paying customers; as pirates keep getting their content from other sources without being force through hoops to peacefully enjoy the musics, ebooks and videos they paid for - do come with some exceptions and exemptions. Exemptions that have been updated recently and... well... I can't really begin to describe it.

First, the good news: it's still legal to root or jailbreak your smartphone, in order to execute legal apps that might not have been approved by the device vendor.

Then, the bad/weird news: though you can root/jailbreak your smartphone doing the same on a tablet is illegal!

Yes... you've read that right... (I've tried reading it a couple of times to see if it began making any sense... but with no sucess).

Also, if you're used to unlocking your smartphones non-officially, be sure to do it only on devices bought until next Januarey 26th, 2013. From then on, unlocking a cellphone without the express approval of the operator it's locked to, will revert to being illegal.

Siri Always Ready on your Jailbroken iPhone

Siri has been one of the most important differentiating features of the new iPhone 4S (even though it could easily be allowed on the iPhone 4 and 3GS), and while still in "beta" and with limited usefulness in other countries, it has been transforming our habits.

Things like setting reminders, appointments, setting alarms, doing conversions, and lots more - that could be done before with a bunch of swipes and touches, can now be done instantly via voice. And it makes us wonder... wouldn't it be nice if it were always listening so that it didn't require the initial Siri button press?

If you have a jailbroken iPhone... you can, thanks to this Hands-Free Control.

This mod allows you to have your iPhone always listening, and enable Siri as soon as you say her name. Sure it will have an adverse impact on the battery life, but hopefully, in the future, this sort of thing will be handled by low power cores that can perform these actions more efficiently, and make voice commands really "full-voice" without the need for any physical start up action.

OmniStat for iOS

Considering most of the users that opt to jailbreak their iPhones do so in order to have complete controlo over their devices, this OmniStat should appeal to everyone with access to the Cydia App Store.

With this OmniStat you can add a new pane to the new iOS5 notification center - which you can access dragging down the top bar, just like on any Android - which will offer a wide array on information and stats about your device.

And besides presenting useful information for everyone wanting to keep a close eye on their iPhone's inner workings, it does so in a way that wouldn't feel out of place in an official Apple widget, as you'll be able to see in the following video.

Definitely a must have for jailbreakers out there.

Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.3.3

Remember the good old days of jailbreakme, when you could jailbreak an iOS device by simply browsing to a specific website? Well... it's back, and it can now jailbreak devices up to the latest iOS 4.3.3.

Once again, you just need to visit http://jailbreakme.com on your iPad or iPhone Safari browser, and after confirming you actually want to go ahead, the jailbreaking process will start.
It uses an exploit in order to download and execute code that will end up with you having a new App installed in your device: the Cydia App, with access to countless non-approved Apps that can tweak your iPhone far beyond what Apple allows (like adding notifications, changing the number of Apps shown in each screen, and lots more).

I wouldn't count on this exploit being open much longer, as it opens up the iOS platform to potential malicious attacks (while this one is being used to jailbreak your device - someone else might use it to sniff our your email for passwords or sensitive data, for instance). So... my guess is that Apple will soon be releasing a security update.

Until then, the exploit fix is available only to jailbroken devices, via the PDF Patcher 2. The first thing you should do after jailbreaking your device.

iPad 2 Jailbreak

Well... it didn't take them long. Just the other day, Apple was announcing their brand new iPad 2, and it reached the stores less than a week ago - with expected, but still surprising, results: nearly 1 million units sold in the first weekend, and going out of stock in nearly every store - and now... it has already succumbed to the jailbreak efforts of the hacking community.

Yes, the jailbreak for the iPad 2 is here.

Looks like Apple will soon have to release a 4.3.1 iOS update to fix yet another exploit being used by this jailbreak method. And the hunt will go on and on... as usual.

Would it be that hard for Apple to simply concede and allow anyone to jailbreak their devices at will?
After all, jailbreak is legal!

Facetime over 3G in iPhone

Now that anyone can easily jailbreak their iPhones (including the latest iPhone 4) with JailbreakMe, it was just a matter of installing the right hacks in order to make Facetime videocalls over 3G (officially you can only do it over WiFi.)

All you need is My3G, a small App that tricks your iPhone into thinking it's connected over WiFi even when it's on 3G. (And allowing you to use your unlimited 3G data plan to its fullest: downloading 20MB+ Apps over 3G, and watch high-quality YouTube videos - things you can only currently do over WiFi.)
