iPhone 4S Invalid Sim Problem

After the battery issues with the iPhone 4S, there's a new problem popping up that is plaguing lots of Phone 4S users after upgrading to the latest iOS 5.0.1 - a dreaded invalid SIM error!

I was using the exact same SIM card I used in my previous iPhone 4 for over a year, without any issue, and have been uysing it in the new 4S since launch... But the exact same day I upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 I began noticing weird behavior.

My iPhone would say it had strong 3G reception, but was unable to use 3G data or place/receive calls, with long delays before finally popping up a invalid SIM error. I tried reseating the card, removing, reinserting... but nothing made any difference.

Once you get the invalid SIM error, the only way to "fix it", is to reboot your iPhone... and at that time I got a few minutes of cell coverage back, before repeating the whole process.

My cell operator (Vodafone) said it was a bad card, and replaced it for a new microSIM - and at first it did seem to fix it. I went for 3 or 4 days without issues, until today I got the Invalid SIM error again!

Googling for it return hundreds (if not thousands) of similar complaints: and with lots of "theories" as to what might be causing it; from defective iPhones to non-official chargers. Truth be told, I wasn't using an official Apple charger at the time of the first incident; but I was yesterday, when the new SIM Card failed as well.

At least now it seems to be hanging on, instead of failing after a couple of minutes like before - but I still find it very odd for all these problems to pop up only  after upgrading to iOS 5.0.1.

I surely hope this is just a software issue, and that a iOS/Carrier update will be able to fix it... soon! As this isn't something a Apple customer should have to deal with.

Let's hope this doesn't escalate into a SIM-gate incident adding up to the antenna-gate and the battery-gate already associated with Apple's iPhones.

Domain issues fixed?

Well, I think it's safe to assume the custom domain issues my blogger blog was plagued with are now fixed and everything is working again (albeit the main url now has "www" while before it was just "internetbestsecrets.com"

If you notice something weird please do let me know, as I sure would like to know you people are still reading my posts - even after those few days "offline".

Blogspot Custom Domain Troubles

For the past 4 days, this blog has been unavailable through the usual domain:
internetbestsecrets.com
-and-
www.internetbestsecrets.com

I tried reaching help&support, but after all these days I still haven't had a single answer. My only option was to disable the custom domain option in the blogspot settings and go back to using the internetbestsecrets.blogspot.com link.

I apologize for being "away", and I'll try to restore the usual custom domain as soon as possible. Until then, please bare with possible broken links. :/


With all this mess I've already lost the chance to keep using the naked domain (without the "www") which was available when I started using the custom domain feature but has since been removed. (Something that really nags me.)

It's a pity there seems to be no real way to ever get in touch with someone real that could explain me why my perfectly working blog suddenly stopped working...

Let's see how the next days will play out.
