The importance of Women in Science

We may be in the 21st century, but some people still think women aren't "suited" for several areas of work traditionally associated with men. Well, you'd be surprised to know that women are pioneering discoveries in lots of scientific areas, and have been doing so for over 2000 years.

Ten Unexplained Discoveries

We live in a time where we often may be tempted to think we know all there is to know about everything. That's not exactly the case, and today I bring you a video that presents us with unexplained discoveries science is still struggling to decipher.

Just keep in mind that, just because something pops up in a internet video it doesn't immediately qualify it as unexplained. Often these kind of videos presents us with phenomena that has perfectly logical and known explanations - though I'm not saying it is the case with this one. At least, not that I know of.

Even while keeping a healthy dose of skepticism, one can't stop letting out imagination run wild with possible explanations for things like mysterious sounds no one knows where they come from; strange planets that shouldn't exist; or the always fascinating placebo effect.

Carbon Nanotubes - The End of Steel?

Carbon nanotubes are constantly being heralded as one of the most promissing materials ever. They're expected to make the space elevator possible, and now it is said they can use it to create a transparent fabric stronger than steel.

Yes, you read it right.

A team of researchers says it's possible to weave a carbon nanotube fabric at up to 7 meters per second.

This new material would now only be extremly light and transparent, it would also be stronger than steel - making us wonder about the countless applications where it could be put to good use.

I think it won't be that long until we'll have to edit that Wikipedia entry regarding Star Trek's Transparent Aluminum, and change it from fictional substance to a real one.
