The new iPhone OS now known as iOS 4.0 as a lot of new and long awaited features, like folders - and, of course, multitasking.
Apple might have taken its time, but again does it in its customary fashion, with all the attention to details it's known for.
Just check the animation and transition effects they've used. Something that might not look much, but indeed helps the user "understand" what's happening when they switch between active apps, etc.
