Water Resistant Coating

I've told it time and time again: no matter how much I appreciate our modern smartphones, true engineering marvels that allows us to do the "unthinkable" and be connected to the entire world 24/7; I still believe there's still a lot to be done. And by that I mean: what good is it to have the latest iPhone or Android smartphone in your pocket, if you happen to need to use it while its raining intensively and you dare not do it?

Sure, there are some models that are waterproof and such, but that has not yet become the norm. However, that might be about to change thanks to special coatings like the one being prepared by Daikin.

This 0.1-1 micron coating allows any object to become water resistant. It's not actually "waterproof", but is more than enough to endure most day to day situations, as well as an accidental drop in water.

This coating is even more incredible when you see it working in mesh surfaces, turning a metallic net into something that can actually hold water!
