How to remove ads from uTorrent

uTorrent may not have the same reputation it once had, but it's still one of the most popular and powerful torrent clients out there. If you're annoyed by the ads it shows you, it's quite easy to make it go away.

If you try uTorrent you'll be faced with a good chuck of screen space devoted to ads and things urging you to fork for the paid versions, but if you intend to stay on the free version all you have to do is spend a few seconds removing all the "junk".

All you have to do is head to "Options > Preferences > Advanced", and then search for the following keys and set it all to false:
  • offers.left_rail_offer_enabled/left_rail_offer
  • gui.show_plus_upsell
  • offers.sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled/sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled
  • bt.enable_pulse
  • gui.show_notorrents_node
  • offers.content_offer_autoexec

Then just exit and restart your uTorrent and you're good to go, on a much cleaner, uncluttered, and less annoying uTorrent.

    1. Some of our readers also highly recommend qBitTorrent, should you ever want to try an alternative. :)
