MagNeo is a "MagSafe" connector for USB Type-C

If you were a fan of Apple's MagSafe plug, you'll may want to check out this MagNeo magnetic plug for USB Type-C.

Now that Apple has ditched its popular MagSafe connector and resorted to the more modern and versatile USB Type-C sockets and cables, we're once again prone to have our MacBooks (or other devices) yanked from the table and flying into a painful (and probably costly) close encounter with the floor.

The MagNeo adapter wants to fix it by giving USB Type-C sockets the MagSafe treatment. Meaning, you'll have a magnetically detachable, and reversible, plug that will prevent such accidents from happening, as well as prevent wear and tear from multiple USB Type-C plug insertions each and every day.

This isn't the first project to propose a magnetic connector for USB Type-C plugs, but this one says it's one of the few that supports up to 100W of power, needed to recharge the most powerful laptops, support up to 5K video, and also data transfers of up to 10Gbps.

Though this means your laptop will have dongle protruding slightly from the side, it may be a small price to pay for what you get in return. Should you be intereset, MagNeo starts at $29 and delivery promised for January.
