If you're not keen on seeing 3D content on a flat screen (I don't blame you, I also think it's just a gimmick that should be used sparingly) but are forced too due to the "majority" at home, here's an interesting mod that allows you to turn any 3D Active shutter 3D glasses into 2D viewing glasses.
Quite simple and effective. Manufacturers should provide a switch like this.
