Android 4.4 KitKat

No, you don't have to check the date to see if it's April 1st. What you're about to read is actually true: the next version of Google isn't going to be called Key Lime Pie as it was previously rumoured, nor will it be Android 5.0 - the next version that is coming is the Android 4.4 KitKat.

Yes, you're reading it right. Google has gone chocolate, although I'd personally prefer "Android Milka", I guess we'll still have to wait a few more letters till we get there. It seems that de developers weren't too fond of Key Lime Pie, wondering how many people would actually know how a Key Lime Pie would taste like. On the other hand, a KitKat is something anyone can find anywhere. It sounded like crazy, but they decided to go with it. After figuring out KitKat is actually a Nestlé brand, they've made a few calls and everything just fell into place. Neither Google nor Nestlé had to pay anything for this, in what is fact a free deal.

A free deal that might also get risky if anything goes horribly wrong with either Android or KitKat, and affecting the other part (or at least be used to make some jokes about it) - but I guess that's highly unlikely.

After Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean, it was about time for Android to give chocolate a chance. :)

... Let's just hope this Android KitKat isn't a way for Google to say it's having a break from Android! :)
