Apple responds to the bendgate accusations

Is the new iPhone 6 Plus so fragile that any slight amount of pressure will bend it? Apple doesn't think so, and has come forth assuring everyone that the new iPhone 6 are as tough as one would expect them to be.

While the bendgate scenario is giving birth to dozens of videos where people show how easy/hard it is to bend an iPhone (and a number of other devices), Apple say that in the first week, they only received 9 complaints regarding bent iPhone 6 Plus'es. Considering there were more than 10 million units sold, it's easy to see it's not an expressive number. Also, Apple opened up one of their test facilities so everyone could see the kind of stress tests iPhones have to endure.

Those testes include bending tests, torsion tests, sitting tests, pressures tests and all other things one wouldn't even think doing to their smartphones - but that can happen unwillingly should you sit on it or something else.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. If there really is a problem with a easily bendable iPhone 6 Plus, as more and more people get theirs and use them as their daily phone, we should see these complains piling up fast. If, on the other hand, there's no such thing... then this will quickly fade out as soon as some other new "viral news" pops up on the internet and grabs everyone's attention.
