uTorrent now installs a hiden bitcoin miner in your computer

The Bitcoin craze may have passed, but there are still lots of people making a lot of money with it, and now it seems uTorrent is pitching in, using your computer to help them make money - even though you may not even know about it.

uTorrent is one of the best known and most popular torrent programs, but if you install the latest 3.4.2 uTorrent version you'll be installing an unwanted bitcoin miner program called Epic Scale as well. And that's even if you choose not to have any "additional content" installed other than uTorrent itself.

This program will be stealing your CPU power to mine bitcoins, and it seems to have been deliberately hidden from view. If you head up to Windows Programs to try and uninstall it, you won't find it listed, and will require you to use a "malware removal program" to clean up your system.

It's a sad day for uTorrent fans, as even those won't like to find that BitTorrent is taking advantage of their trust in this manner (it wouldn't cost them anything to put that option in plain view, saying it would be a way to help the company, and letting the option up to the user). As it is, it will certainly contribute for users to replace uTorrent with other programs, like qBittorrent, Deluge, Transmission, Vuze, etc.
