Kickstarter projects turns steel Apple Watch into gold for under $100

There's a Kickstarter project  that has already attracted over one hundred investors, aiming to turn a steel Apple Watch into gold, for a fraction of what the gold Apple Watch costs. This seems like alchemy at its best, but it's perfectly legit and based on real working science.

While we won't dive into the pros and cons of wearing a gold watch on your wrist, fans of this color/material will probably be saddened by the fact that Apple has decided to launch only the aluminum and steel Apple Watch at affordable price points. The gold one is obscenely expensive, in solid gold. But as they use to say: when there's a will there's a way.

And the way, in this case, comes in the form of a Kickstart project that will turn a steel Apple Watch into gold, for under $100. And don't think for a moment that this is scam, or a poorly conceived gold paint based project that will ruin your Apple e Watch. In fact, the results are suprisingly good and rely on the well known process of gold plating - here in an easy-to-use, do it yourself, kit.

Keep in mind that you'll be able to use the same kit to gold plate other items. So, there's nothing stopping you from gold plating your metallic smartphone or any other metal pieces to match you golden Apple Watch (it's actually gold, technically, although just a few microns thick.)
