Tesla's Ludicrous Mode takes you from 0 to 60mph in 2.8s

There's no shortage of videos showcasing Tesla's P85 insane mode acceleration that takes you from 0 to 60mph in 3.2s. But now there's a new mode in town, and aptly called "Ludicrous Mode"!

Tesla's Ludicrous Mode takes you from 0 to 60mph in just 2.8 seconds. Though it's an option you'll have to pay 10 grand for (5 grand if you've already bought a P85D). With this mode enabled, the car accelerates at 1.1G, faster that it would free fall, and is sure bound to "glue" you to the seat.

A value of 2.8s is in line with the best hypercars available today, but it also makes us fear that the digital cars may soon be plagued by the same DLC content/upgrades we see on videogames - where buying a game doesn't really end with you leaving the store, but in fact it's just the start of you paying for extra content, a season pass, some more content not included in the season pass, etc. etc. (Did mention you'll also need the battery pack upgrade, for an added $3000?)

Anyway, don't expect things will end up with this Ludricous Mode. Elon Musk has already said something even faster is possible - the "Maximum Plaid" mode - though we'd need to wait 4 more years to see it in action in a new and upcoming Tesla Roadster.
