It was one of the most annoying things in the Android Market... You would search for an App and... you wouldn't be able to install it, with no kind of warning or explanation whatsoever.
Looks like Google noticed that as well, and the Android Market now shows a much nicer compatibility checklist in order to inform you on what devices you'll be able to install each App.
(I think it could still be a little more descriptive, so that users would know why their devices are incompatible - not enough resolution, lack of some needed hardware/CPU, etc. But, I guess it's a step in the right direction.)
