Google's PhotoScan app helps digitize old photos using your smartphone


If you want to add your "old" photos to your digital albums collection, the task is now made easier with Google's new PhotoScan app.


Even considering that it is now possible to buy a scanner for a a very cheap price, there's the small issue of "convenience" that causes most to indefinitely postpone the task of scanning old photos. With PhotoScan by Google Photos that becomes something you don't need to postpone for later, as you can do it right away with your smartphone camera.

Although snapping a picture of a photo isn't exactly new, we all know that it isn't always easy to end up with a good enough result (between reflections, slightly misaligned orientation, and all the other things that can go wrong). PhotoScan helps with that by asking you to snap multiple pictures of the same photo in slightly different positions, and compiling it all in a "picture perfect" result.
