Blogsy for iPad

Although it's not free, if you ever wished to have a really useful blog post writing on your iPad, you should really give this Blogsy a try.

This App uses the common dual mode view, where you have a "write mode" where you can see, write, and edit your text with all the HTML elements in between, and - with a single swipe - change to a composition mode, where you can see how it will look in a browser.

This composition mode is where you can also embed other content, like images and videos, that you can easily drag and drop from a side column with access to services like Google, Flickr, YouTube, etc.

This Apps supports different blogging platforms like WordPress, Blogger, Posterous, Blog.com and services such as Flickr, Picasa, YouTube, Google for easy content access.

After offering us an automatic template for mobile devices Blogger does it again with these truly amazing Dynamic Views for Blogger, which allow any blogger hosted blog to instantly gain a completely new look and style by just tweaking your url a bit, and making it a lot more appropriate for... say... browsing it on a tablet.

Blogger may have been left untouched for a very long time. But it now seems Google is really committed to making it better than ever. For what is worth... I sincerely appreciate it, as this is truly the blogging platform I've loved since I've first tried it.

Blogger gets Template Designer

Looks like Google is finally taking its Blogger blogging platform seriously.

After years without any relevant updates, and some major flaws that were slowly addressed and fixed, Blogger gets - out of the blue - one feature that may very well turn it into an instant favorites for most blogger: an easy-to-use interactive blog template designer!

Editing a blog template was never an easy thing to do, with most bloggers simply opting to choose a pre-made template and forget about it.
Though, it's just a matter of time until they realize they would probably like one extra column or sidebar, or simply changing the colors of some elements - tough they lack the skills to do it, and therefore keep delaying it for as long as possible.

With this template designer Blogger takes the lead in easy customization of any template. Even a new found blogger will be able to click through all the available options and adjust the template to his/her liking.

Thanks Google and Blogger team! That this might be but the first of a long series of improvements that will make Blogger even better in the coming months.

How to Write Upside Down Text

Ever came across a piece of text that looks like this: ʇxǝʇ uʍop ǝpısdn ?

Yes, that's upside down text, and you'll find it scattered around the internet, whenever someone thinks it's funny to play around with their friends (or just to annoy someone ;)

But today I'll reveal the secret behind this strange flipped text and how you can do it yourself.

The trick behind it is that we'll be using special characters and symbols that look like inverted letters - and if it "looks" like it, it's as good as real inverted letters, right?

How can you write flipped upside down text? It's actually quite easy:

You just need to visit any of the websites that do all the hard work for you, sites like:

• FlipText
• Upside Down Text

You'll just need to type your message, and then copy the resulting flipped text and paste it wherever you want.
(Just keep in mind they'll need to support unicode characters - or else you'll be restricted to just the "plain letters.")

Blogger with "Read More"

It might have take them a while (ten years!) but we can finally do a "Read More" section in Blogger/Blogspot without cumbersome hacks!

Why should you care? Well, if you write long posts you can now easily separate a introductory section from the longer main section, improving readability in your blog. (Without forcing your readers to scroll through endless pages of information they're not interested in.).

How does it work?

It's simple, just click the new icon in the blogger post editor:

That will allow you to hide everything after the break from your main blog page.

Enhance your 404 non-existing page

Don't you just hate it when you get to a meaningless 404 web page? You might have mistyped the URL, or maybe the page was renamed... no matter what, web surfers have little patience for it and will leave your site without second thought.

Unless...

You can easily code a much friendlier "404" page that will help your readers find the right page.

For that, we'll use a freely available script from Google.

Example: 

Jamie receives the link www.example.com/activities/adventurecruise.html in an email message. Because of formatting due to a bad email client, the URL is truncated to www.example.com/activities/adventur. 

As a result it returns a 404 page. 

With the 404 widget added, however, she could instead see the following:

Just head up to Google Webmaster Tools and check the "Enhance 404 pages" to find the widget you'll need to add to your 404 page.

(No need to say you can easily change its appearance to make it look exactly like you want.)
