Kanye West caught pirating software on Pirate Bay

As a public figure, Kanye West is a anti-piracy advocate, promoting the use of streaming platforms like Tidal saying it pays artists better; but in private, it seems he has no problems in pirating even affordable music software using Pirate Bay.

Pirate Bay reappears after 2 weeks down

The last raid put Pirate Bay offline two weeks ago, and day after day people waited to see when it would come back. Now, there's finally a sign that the world's most famous "pirate" site is about to spring back to life.

While PirateBay seems to be taking its time getting back to working order - though some have already republished their archives - now we get to see what impact this takedown had: absolutely none at all.

Police raid takes down The Pirate Bay (for now)

The Swedish police tries once again to take down the world's most famous file sharing site "The Pirate Bay" and they've apparently succeeded... for now.

Pirate Bay Founders Launch Bay Files

With file sharing tendencies having passed from torrent sites to direct download sites, The Pirate Bay founders are now launching a new file transfer/sharing/hosting site: BayFiles.

Fredrik Neij and Peter Sunde say this new service will be perfectly legal, although it remains to be seen how they plan to enforce that kind of control over user's content. As far as USA laws are concerned, the site doesn't promote illegal uploads or file sharing, and it clearly states that users shouldn't upload infringing content and can be suspended due to repeated violations.

Unregistered users can share files up to 250MB, up to 500MB for registered users, and 5GB to premium users (5€/month or 45€/year.)

The PirateBay is Down

The PirateBay is currently down, but there's no need to panic... yet.

From what we're told, this is due to a technical problem and not to an "offensive attack" from its enemies.

That seems to be the case, as you can still access the site via an IPv6 proxy:

So, let's wait a bit longer and hope everything will be sorted out soon.

Piratebay is Down (for good?) [Updated]

I don't know about you, but the popular torrent site The Pirate Bay seems to be down.

I have checked with some friends, in different countries and different ISPs to check and they all report the same: Pirate Bay is down.

Their servers are still responding to pings, but http traffic is a no-no.

Are they upgrading their servers, or have they been raided by authorities trying to shut them down once again?

Time will tell...

Well, the sooner I would talk about it, the sooner it got back online... Pirate Bay is back!
(Although still slightly laggy... I guess they'll soon explain what happened to cause this outage for most of the day)

Yellow Day in Sweden

In Sweden, today is the day to wear Yellow.

The troops have been assembled by Peter Sunde (a.k.a. Brokep) from the famous torrent sharing site PirateBay.

In order to show support for the upcoming trial case, regarding the legality of hosting links to copyrighted material, they've asked supporters to wear yellow today.

The event was announced on their group in Facebook “Free The Pirate Bay” in “wear yellow for sharing” which is happening... today.
