iOS is getting closer to our cars

If you're a iOS user (or Android for that matter), you've probably wondered why your car dashboard looks so pre-historic and dated (ok, if you own a Tesla, you mat not feel like that). Apple wants to bring iOS to our cars infotainment screens, and it looks like the upcoming iOS 7.1 will finally make it happen.

Steven Troughton-Smith was able to trick iOS 7.0.3 into treating is iMac like a car screen and give us a glimpse of what's to come. even though the final version might look completely different - as some screens on iOS7.1 beta have already popped up and show a different interface, more akin to iOS7 look and feel instead of the now "oldish" iOS6 look we're able to see in the demo video.

In any case, the important part is that this mode will bring added attention to using our devices on multiple screens at the same time; and that will eventually lead to things like being able to use a big desktop monitor to work on something while we use our tablet or smartphone as an accessory pad for added interaction - not to mention the "second-screen" stuff while we're watching a movie or playing a video on the big screen in the living room.

After all... give it another decade and we won't even need to be looking at car dashboards, as the car will take us where we want... no driver needed! :)
