Pixel Qi Promises "Better than iPad" Screens
The transflectiv Pixel Qi screens have long since promised to revolutionize the mobile industry. But so far they've been late to market, and its screens lacking in terms of view angles and such. However, no one can deny that its low power promise, as well as its sunlit screen readability still leave us wanting such a screen to be possible.
But, the mobile market is always evolving, and we now have screens like the amazing 2048x1536 LCD of the new Apple iPad. A reference LCD that has impressed all... but that Pixel Qi claims it can outshine!
Pixel Qi says that for its next generation screens: "We have a new architecture that matches the resolution of the ipad3 screen, and its full image quality including matching or exceeding contrast, color saturation, the viewing angle and so forth with massive power savings."
Bold claims indeed, considering they haven't been able to impress anyone as much as we once expected. But, considering just how important such a screen could have - should they be able to deliver - my guess is that we better hope they succeed!

PixelQi Displays
Looks like PixelQi multimode LCDs are finally near completion, if we are to believe the sheer volume of announcements and demos shown everywhere.
If you come by regularly you'll already know I have high hopes for these "miraculous" LCDs that offer the best in LCD technology, but add that extra little bit, allowing to work flawlessly outdoors even when facing the Sun (and being more efficient and power saving than ever.)
This latest batch shows how PixelQi display has evolved since the first demo units, providing a much wider viewing angle and touchscreens.
Can't wait for the first tablets with these displays to come out!

Notion Ink Tablet
This sure would be a great Christmas present - but unfortunately is scheduled to show up in January.
This Smart Pad from Notion Ink has a very interesting spec list; the most important one being the fact it uses one of those multi-mode miraculous displays from pixel Qi.
But, as the screen alone is not enough, this smartpad relies on a powerful nVidia TEGRA to run thing smoothly, and has all the assortment of extras you'd expect on such a device: accelerometers, proximity and light sensors, water sensores (an water proof tablet, that would be too much! :), digital compass, GPS, WiFi, bluetooth, 3mp camera, HD video and Flash hardware acceleration, and more.
Thanks to the Tegra chip and the Pixel Qi display, battery life goes through the roof: 48h in standby, 8h playing Full HD video, 16h browsing the net through WiFi.
Now we just have to wait and see how much this incredible tabler will cost.
