Dropbox deletes 8000 backup photos from user
If you're a regular reader, I hope you'll know how important backups are. But the truth is, most people only really start to care about backups after experiencing the despair of losing valuable data. Today, I bring you a case that shows that using Dropbox for backups might not be as foolproof as you'd expect.

TouchPico Android pico-projector turns a wall into a touchscreen
People my age will still look at touch devices and feel like it's something like out of a science-fiction movie. But for all those that were born in the last 10 or 15 years, touchscreens are something that are quite common - as proven by all those kids trying to touch TV screens and projection screens and trying to interact with it just like they do in a tablet or smartphone. With this TouchPico, they'll actually be able to do it.

Silent Beacon - a panic button for your smartphone
We often talk computer safety in this digital age, but even more important is our own personal safety. Unfortunately, just like in the digital version, this is something most people only take seriously after dealing with dangerous situations. And those will make you wish you had one of these Silent Beacon bluetooth buttons with you.

What is quantum computing?
In the beginning, there were ones and zeros, and all was logical. But then came quantum computing... and no one understood what everyone was talking about, or nor, or both... Welcome to the quantum world, and today we'll try and make some sense out of it (or maybe not.)

Apple orders 70 to 80 million iPhone 6 screens
There's no doubt every company expects their upcoming products to be a huge success, but when it comes to put your money where your mouth is... things become a little more serious. Not so with Apple, that seems to believe their new iPhone 6 models to become an even bigger success that the previous launches.

iPhone 6 screen is not actual "pure" sapphire
We've recently saw the amazing flexibility and resistance properties of the (alleged) iPhone 6 sapphire glass screen, but if thought it was strange to see sapphire bend so much, then you won't be surprised to find out that it isn't actually 100% pure sapphire.

goTenna is a 50 mile radio extender for your Bluetooth communications
When I was little, things like cell phones were still in the realm of science fiction, but the desire to be able to communicate with our friends was already present - which made Walkie-Talkies one of the most desirable items we could hope for on Christmas. That's precisely the feeling this goTenna brought back in me.

Microsoft's Project Adams aims to teach computers "to see"
Digital assistants like Siri, Google Now and Cortana may be very helpful in lots of scenarios; but they also show just how limited their apparent intelligence is. They're still just "dumb" assistants that aim to look a bit more intelligent than they really are, and they really have no clue about the real world we live in. Microsoft wants to change all that with their Project Adam.

Ingress for iOS available for iPhone and iPad
It's has been nearly two years since Google launched it's mysterious Ingress a world-game for Android that was only available by invite - until about a year later it finally opened up for everyone (with an Android, that is) who wanted to play it. iOS users have since lost nearly all hopes of joining in... but now they can :Ingress is finally available for iOS.

Statement High Quality Lightning Cable
Apple may have simplified its cables and connectors with the Lightning system, but that didn't make their own cables any better. Just like the old ones, they're prone to "desintegrate" under heavy use, in part thanks to the lack of adequate strain-relief protection (because, as it's used to say, adding it would "ruin" the cable's design). But now Statement wants to change that, providing high quality and certified Lightning cables for your Apple devices.

Once, one could only dream with the possibility of being able to keep an eye on our homes no matter where we were; today, any one can do it without spending a fortune, though you'll have to mess with some complex configurations. Dropcam has become quite popular by allowing you to do it in a much simpler way, and now it gets even better by allowing you to create custom activity areas.

WiFiEX - another Indiegogo-approved scam?
Indiegogo has been used for several highly doubtful crowdfunding campaigns. I backed one up that is now mora than 1 year overdue, and Indiegogo's track record on handling dubious cases leaves a lot to be desired. Now, there's a new project that will certainly raise a lot of suspicion: a device you can "charge" at home with internet, and then take it anywhere you may go.

Android Auto uses video streaming to avoid obsolescence
Google wants to make Android safer to use while driving, and it's answer is Android Auto. But, are the slow evolving cars and the rapidly changing mobile market really compatible? If you won't dare imagining using a 4 year old smartphone, how will a car system keep up after 6 or 7 years? The answer is quite simple, and Google seems to have nailed it: video streaming.

Are the smart people at Google straying away from reality?
No one denies Google employs some of the most intelligent people on the planet, and they need to in order to stay ahead of its competitors. But, have you ever felt looking at something they did and wonder: "How could anyone approve this? Have they even tried using it themselves?" Well, you're not alone.

This is how the new iPhone 6 will look like
Looks like the time where Apple could keep secrets are long gone, as today there is no shortage of "alleged" iPhone parts popping up all over the internet. The sheer number of which is enough to give credibility to how the next iPhone 6 will look like, and a duo of designers decided to compile all into some concept renderings that should be pretty close to what we'll get next September.

Goldman Sachs makes Google un-send an Email
I believe almost everyone has experienced the despair of clicking the "send" button on an email as they realize it's going to the wrong recipient (or maybe you've wrongfully placed hundreds of emails in the CC field instead of the BCC). Once that email is sent, there's no way to take it back... unless you're Goldman Sachs.

No-IP is one of the most popular dynamic DNS services out there, allowing people all over the world to remotely access their home computer, security cameras, and even large companies to remotely manage and access their devices. A couple of days ago, without any notice, millions of users found out they were no longer able to do so - Microsoft had/has taken control over dozens of No-IP base domains.
